Hi, This is Eric, and thank you for your interest in this little blog. I presume the new members from today are responding to my Mastodon call for a community blog. So, this is just to say...
- I am excited by the idea of hosting a community blog
- I posted my call just seconds after I had the initial idea, meaning I haven't given this much thought.
- I will write up an initial 'vision statement' in the next few days, in order to flesh out the idea. When I present that, I will collect feedback and input from you.
- This might be a little reckless... I don't recognize the names and email addresses of all new members. It may not be wise for me to add people as Staff without doing some vetting. We'll figure this out.
- My idea is not about creating a "Lit Journal." I'm already editing a couple of those, and I don't have the capacity to handle things like submissions or editing.
- In order for a project like this to be of interest to anyone, there will need to be some amount of communal mission or purpose.
- I do have some time to deal with the mechanics of hosting the blog, so in that way, I'll act as a bit of an overall admin.
- My gut vision is something like this:
An experimental community blog focused on art/writing/music/creativity that is in reaction to, or responds to, or is inspired by, living in a fascist state. I'm interested in supporting personal perspectives and responses, not explicit political responses or direct actions. I'd like there to be a punk/zine/DIY feel to it.
Ghost is a newsletter platform, but initially, I think we should only use that for rare general site news or info. Once we have a group of active bloggers, we can discuss ways of using the newsletter features.
If you want to introduce yourself in the comments to this, feel free, but no pressure. This is a public site and it's fine if any of you want to keep your identity private. Public anonymity and pseudonyms are fine, but we should all plan to get to know each other.
Oh, and full disclosure: I'm a cis-het older white guy, but I emphatically want to support and present any human who feels marginalized by our dominant white culture. I'm a male survivor of childhood sexual trauma with decades of personal growth work and lots experiencing existing in community with people of all backgrounds, including our trans and non-binary friends.
Ah shit, I can't seem to shut up... one last thing. Please read this:

The topic of 'degenerate art' was the inspiration for this site. My original vision was simply to promote any kind of artwork or creative activity that will piss off Maggots and Nazis. That's the vibe I'm asking you to join into.
